I'm posting mostly over at Quirky Cookery right now, where I play with my food and teach you to have fun with it, too. Come check me out?

Feed my fishies!

I don't remember what site I found this on, but they had it as their intro page. The site itself wasn't great, but I thought the gadget was cute. I was able to go in and customize my fish, too, so it was kinda fun making my own fish tank. Don't forget to click around to drop food and watch the fish go eat it.

Sure, it's nothing amazingly special, but it's entertaining for a couple seconds. After all, I have Quirky Lurky over there in my sidebar, so why wouldn't I post about this? lol And to think, I said Lurky probably wouldn't stay for long....and he's been there for a little over a year and a half. Crazy!

But yeah, the fish. Feed them....and if you want your own, just click on the little button underneath it to take you to a customization page. :D

Shut the Duck Up!!

Literally. That wasn't a typo or some somewhat lame, somewhat clever way of avoid the 'f' word in a subject line.

Nope, it's because I'm introducing you guys to the site "Shut the Duck Up" which is about shutting up those duck rides tourists go on. Here's their blurb:

We the undersigned do hereby call for respect from the Philadelphia Ride the Ducks Tour Company. The Ride the Ducks Tours are loud, noisy, obnoxious and an ear sore to local citizens of the Philadelphia area. By blasting music, shouting over a loud PA system, and encouraging the tooting of “quackers,” the Ride the Ducks Tours consistently disrupt the life of the average Philadelphian and are violating a number of noise pollution laws. We ask for Ride the Ducks Tours to work for a better relationship with Philadelphia residents and by agreeing to three guidelines:

And then they list their guidelines. It's not an incredibly active blog, but I met the creator on a blogging forum long, long ago and bookmarked the site because the energy and enthusiasm was so high. It's an interesting concept, too, and I love the name!

Fun facts about your birthday

This is a simple birthday calculator that will tell you all sorts of fun facts about the day you were born. Just select your b-day and voila, fun facts appear.

I'm writing this in advance for later, so here are some examples of my results from the day I wrote it:

Your fortune cookie reads:

There are 130 days till your next birthday
on which your cake will have ** candles.

Those ** candles produce ** BTUs,
or **** calories of heat (that's only **** food Calories!) .
You can boil 2** US ounces of water with that many candles.

(Sorry guys, not giving away my age at this point, hehe)

In 19** there were approximately 3.7 million births in the US.
In 19** the US population was approximately 226,545,805 people, 64.0 persons per square mile.

The moon's phase on the day you were born was waxing crescent. (There's a picture on the site of what the moon looked like)

Your birth tree is
Rowan, the Sensitivity

Full of charm, cheerful, gifted, without egoism, likes to draw attention, loves life, motion, unrest and even complications, is both dependent and independent, good taste, artistic, passionate, emotional, good company, does not forgive.

There are tons of other little tidbits, including who you share a birthday with and how many days until Christmas.....which has absolutely nothing to do with your birthday, but hey, it's nifty anyway!
