Feed my fishies!

I don't remember what site I found this on, but they had it as their intro page. The site itself wasn't great, but I thought the gadget was cute. I was able to go in and customize my fish, too, so it was kinda fun making my own fish tank. Don't forget to click around to drop food and watch the fish go eat it.

Sure, it's nothing amazingly special, but it's entertaining for a couple seconds. After all, I have Quirky Lurky over there in my sidebar, so why wouldn't I post about this? lol And to think, I said Lurky probably wouldn't stay for long....and he's been there for a little over a year and a half. Crazy!

But yeah, the fish. Feed them....and if you want your own, just click on the little button underneath it to take you to a customization page. :D

Shut the Duck Up!!

Literally. That wasn't a typo or some somewhat lame, somewhat clever way of avoid the 'f' word in a subject line.

Nope, it's because I'm introducing you guys to the site "Shut the Duck Up" which is about shutting up those duck rides tourists go on. Here's their blurb:

We the undersigned do hereby call for respect from the Philadelphia Ride the Ducks Tour Company. The Ride the Ducks Tours are loud, noisy, obnoxious and an ear sore to local citizens of the Philadelphia area. By blasting music, shouting over a loud PA system, and encouraging the tooting of “quackers,” the Ride the Ducks Tours consistently disrupt the life of the average Philadelphian and are violating a number of noise pollution laws. We ask for Ride the Ducks Tours to work for a better relationship with Philadelphia residents and by agreeing to three guidelines:

And then they list their guidelines. It's not an incredibly active blog, but I met the creator on a blogging forum long, long ago and bookmarked the site because the energy and enthusiasm was so high. It's an interesting concept, too, and I love the name!

Lolinator--turn your site into an LolCat

Yep, type in your website and it'll take your base template, turn it into LolCat format, and change your text into lolz and iz's, etc.

And of course it adds a few pictures chosen just for you....like the one above. How did it know I was so obsessed with food!?!

Try it out!

~Edit~ I almost forgot! This was found by someone over on Bloggeries a long time back (at this point, more than 6 months ago, ha!) and I still had it saved. I wanted to throw her name out there for everyone because she's pretty cool....and hey, if she discovers things like this, she deserves some linky love, hehe. You can find Eve over at Confessions of a Housewife or Caffeine-Overload.

This dog is all decked out....in scuba gear!

You can't tell me that's not quirky, lol. Here's the caption from Yahoo:

Mondex, a 5-year-old Chihuahua, poses as he walks the aisle dressed as a scuba diver during a dog show at a mall in suburban Manila on Sunday April 27, 2008. Mondex bagged first place during the fashion show category.

I knew people dressed up their dogs, but I wouldn't have expected this in a mall dog fashion show! Haha.

Quirky's Inbox--Can you tell the difference between a horse and a frog?

Give it a few seconds and the image will turn on your screen. Pretty cool, huh?

Check out Ferox

Ferox and I cross paths on a couple of sites, but I don't think I've ever linked to her blog here before. After seeing the image above, though, I couldn't put it off any more. Isn't that amazing? She has a couple different blogs (including one she writes as a vet student and another on D&D) and writes for Associated Content, so be sure to look around and explore all she has to offer. You won't be disappointed. :)

~Edit~ I had this postdated for today, but it looks like Ferox is the first guest blogger over at BlogEngage now, too. Perfect timing, I suppose.

PJC--Cat Trained to Use Bathroom

Well, it's not exactly a picture...but more like bunches and bunches of still framed pictures streamed together to create this video. It still counts, right? Lol. It's only about 30 seconds, so it's not a major file to watch...just a clip. :)

PJC--No Cheeseburgers for Lent

Okay, okay....I know this is the umpteenth (third?) time I've posted an LolCat this month, but I couldn't resist with this guy. I mean, after all, today is Friday and for those who recognize lent and don't eat meat on Fridays during this time, then it's kinda giggle-worthy, right? Hehe.

PJC and Quirky's Inbox--The World's Largest Retailer (The Wal-Mart Cat)

The Wal-Mart Cat

A blonde was weed-eating her yard and accidentally cut off the tail of her cat which was hiding in the grass. She rushed her cat, along with the tail over to Wal-Mart! Why Wal-mart?

Because Wal-mart is the largest retailer in the world!

PJC--Fake Tan Season is on its Way

Yep, I've started seeing it first hand already. Because there's still snow all over the place, their orange faces really stick out against the bright white background, too. I understand that Spring is almost here and that many students are on Spring Break soon, but really, is the orange necessary?

PJC--I Wanna Fit on Your Thumbnail

Yep, they're a dying breed, but not just because they're so tiny, unfortunately. Here's the caption:

A Gardiner's Seychelles frog rests on a thumb in this undated handout. A giant Chinese salamander that predates Tyrannosaurus rex and the world's smallest frog are among a group of extremely rare amphibians identified by scientists as being in need of urgent help to survive.
Taken from Yahoo and the link will become broken rather quickly, so why bother?
There's a lot involved with why so many animals are dying off, so I won't even get started on it. Instead, can you imagine sitting on the edge of a thumbnail like that? What would the world look like?

~Edit~ This 'was' posted yesterday, but I'd changed the date incorrectly from when I saved the draft, so it didn't show in the right place...oops!

PJC--Guess which one of us is stupid

LolCat says 2 of us look stupid. one of us is. wearing aluminum foil helmets
Yes, I'm pulling another LolCat for the day. Today was one of those days where stupid people ruled. Now, I'm not one to even use that word. Growing up, "stupid" was a bad word. Even now, I don't use that word around my mom, and if I do, I start with "I know you don't like this word" or "I'm sorry for saying it, but..." And it's very rare, in general, because I prefer not to call things or people "stupid."

Today, though....they were stupid. It was stupid actions one after another and I couldn't even laugh about it any more. So today's picture....yeah, stupid.

White Bengal Tigers

Three cute white bengal tiger cubsCute animal picture time!

It's been a while since I've posted a cute picture for no apparent reason at all, so here ya go.

Three 39 days-old white tigers are presented at the Metropolitan Zoo in Santiago, Monday, Feb. 4, 2008. Luna, a captive tiger not pictured, gave birth to two males and one female last Dec. 28, 2007
I have a special connection to white tigers as I've done research on them since I was in elementary school and have always held them close to my heart. I even wrote to the Guinness Book of World Records one year because they listed them as "the most endangered" and I didn't appreciate how they were showing it off like that when it was horrible and didn't include the appropriate facts. To come up with three cubs at once like this is absolutely amazing (and for those of you who know anything about them, yes, I know about the inbreeding and such....just meant that it's really rare for three to pop up like this).

Mail is as Slow as Snails....Literally!

I've been having tons of issues with the postal service later and this is just confirmation. Mail erally is as slow as snails. Brings new/old meaning to "snail mail."

WARSAW (Reuters) - It's official. Postal delivery is as slow as snails, at least in Poland.

Daily Gazeta Wyborcza said Michal Szybalski calculated that it took 294 hours for the letter to arrive at his home. He also said the distance between his home and the sender was 11.1 kilometers.

Given the distance and the time, the speed of the letter was 0.03775 kilometers per hour. Szybalski calculated that a garden snail travels at around 0.048 kilometers per hour.

Munchlers--Fold Out Animal Lunch Boxes (Bags)

So they're cute, right?! They're called Munchlers and you can get them here. They're really cheap at only 10 bucks for an insulated lunchbag. The part I love most (after the cuteness, of course), is that they flatten out and can act as your plate, too. Adorable for kids, awesome for quirky people who like to have a little fun with their lunch instead of brown-baggin' it! There's also a tiger and a dog not posted, so check those out if the sad panda and bunny don't suit your tastes. Let me know if you get one or have something similar...I'll post about you, too! Hehe.

Animals Need Help--A Blog About Stopping Animal Cruelty

Before the new year, I was introduced to this blog via a member on Bloggeries forum. The title pretty much sums up what the blog is about.....stopping and preventing animal cruelty. I think it's a great cause and I don't get the chance to support these types of things much any more, so this is my own little shout out to the blog.

For those of you interested, go check it out. It's still in its early stages, but has plenty of room for growth, so keep an eye on it. It's both serious....and fun, surprisingly enough. One post covers top ten ways to prevent animal abuse....while her most recent post is a compilation of funny animal pictures and a "how many dogs does it take to change a light bulb?" joke, complete with pictures and cute descriptions of how various dog breeds would answer the question, hehe.

It Rained Iguanas! Literally!

Photobucket

No, really. This article is from the 4th and it got so cold that the iguanas went into a deep sleep and started falling out of trees. Here's part of the story:

KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. - How cold was it in South Florida this week? So cold the iguanas fell from the trees.

The cold-blooded reptiles go into a deep sleep when the temperature falls into the 40s. Experts said their bodies basically shut off and they lose their grip on the tree.

But it isn't sudden death: Experts said the reptiles perk up when the temperatures rises. The iguanas turn a gray hue in the meantime.

Miami Metrozoo officials said the night cold causes the most drops.

"The worst part of the cold comes in the evening, and they literally just shut off," said Ron Magill, communications director for Miami Metrozoo. "Their bodies shut off and they lose their grip on the tree, and they start falling."

More of the story.
