101 Things in 1001 Days

Along with the 365 Interesting People project I'd like to try at some point, I'd also like to do the 101 Things in 1001 Days. Fried Dreams is where I first heard mention of it, and I've seen it on a few other blogs since then. Here's the basis of it:

The Mission:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).

Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple goals such as new year’s resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organizing and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.

I really wouldn't even know where to begin with starting a list right now, and even if I did, I think some of my short term goals may change enough so that I wouldn't feel as accomplished at the end anyway. It has gotten me to rethinking about some of the things I want in the next few years, though, and maybe once I get back around to going through my archives and I stumble across this again, I'll be in a position where I want and have the time to start something like this. It reminds me of New Year's resolutions, but on a much more manageable level. I like it.

I have thought about the same thing. I wonder if I would get frustrated if I didn't complete anything on my list....
