Lip art - Pokemon, crabs, pandas, and a whole lotta lipstick fun

Photobucket

Tattoos and fingernail art are awesome, but I can’t say I’ve ever seen lip paint art like this before. Sure, face painted animals are common at fairs and zoos, but when do they ever just do your lips? Never!

There are more awesome foxes, Pokémon, bees, and even a hippo shown here. Too cute.

Tattoo - Where the Wild Things are

Check out the full series of pictures in her Flickr album. From start to finish, it looks so incredibly detailed.

(Keep in mind that one of those photos is taken in the mirror, so it looks reversed)

~Edit~ Oh, oh! Another blogger I read regularly (A Whole Lot of Nothing) linked to the owner of this tattoo (yes, I scheduled this post in advance, so this stuff is a few weeks old at this point). Now I can give better credit and ended up finding another blogger I'd like to know in the process. Woot!

Owl tattoos galore

Owl tattoos is a site of just that. Who knew there were so many people with tattoos...of just owls? To give you an idea, there've been right at 350 posts over the last couple years, and most posts feature more than one tattoo each, so yikes!

Pacman butt....of all the places to put it! (Picture included, beware!)

I debated for a while whether or not I should post this picture. I keep things PG-13 here, and I don't find the picture of a smooth butt with pac man buddies tattooed all over it as being offensive, but then again, the site I pulled it from originally listed it as NSFW, so I wasn't sure.

When it comes down to it, though, it's just a butt! And you should be looking at the Pacman tattoo, not the crack anyway. ;)

Gizmodo also has a video of a Pacman jacket that flashes graphics across the front. It looks insanely uncomfortable, but it has moving Pacman guys, so it's probably worth it.

Tattoos, tattoos, and more tattoos! EvilTattoo.com

There are so many tattoos that I spent way longer than I'd care to admit, looking through them to find one to use as a picture for this post.

Needless to say, I gave up. There are just too many to choose from!

This isn't your typical "show off your latest tattoo" site either. They have collections of black and white photos even of tattoos from generations past. And the pictures are all separated into nice, neat little categories so if you're looking for something specific, it's there. From aliens to zodiac tattoos, I can't even imagine how many photos are there. You can also browse by body part....from ankle tattoos to wrist tattoos.

Art for a dollar (Make it Rain)

Who said art has to be expensive? This would've worked well back during my Quirky Art Month, but I wanted to share it now anyway.

Caroline has more pictures of the dollar art, where Scott Campbell laser-etched his designs into stacks of $1 bills. While I thought the idea was quirky, when I followed her link to Campbell's website, it turns out he's a tattoo artist, too....and has some beautifully done tattoos that you might want to look through.

Lip Tattoos

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
As a follow up to my post on knuckle tattoos, here's a tribute to those with lip tattoos. (You'd think I had a ton myself or that I was obsessed with tattoos....but neither is true....I find some interesting, but really, these just happened to cross my path and I decided to post 'em anyway...hehe). Apparently the site I'm looking at has tons of other tattoo categories, too, but it was the lip ones that were passed my way, so that's where I'll start.

Of course, he has everything copyrighted, and even has the whole "don't duplicate/republish" stuff, so I'll be nice and not show you a few here. It's unlikely that you'll head on over considering I don't have anything to tease you with, but whatever....his loss, not mine, lol. There really are some interesting ones, though....I mean, who thinks to put 'Vegan' on the inside of their lip? I'm lovin' the "thought crime" one, too....wonder why the inside of the lip is where these people chose to put their tats....

Oooooh!! Go check out the glow in the dark ones. There are 18 pages of those, as opposed to the 2 1/2 of the lip ones. Here's the main site if you're interested in looking at the geek tats, fairies, or even the removal ones (some are rather graphic, so careful). A ton more categories, too...

The Wonderful World of Knuckle Tattoos....

I'm not sure how I stumbled across this site. It has been sitting in the recently created folder in my firefox bookmark bar labeled "ThingsB." If I had more room to spare, it'd, of course say, "Things to Blog," but I don't and it isn't. I could say BlogThings, too, but that's already been taken (and now shortened to BThings to avoid nosy fellow employees when I'm at work who like to stop and chit chat....what I have on my toolbar is none of their business, lol) for the various things that I use on my blog, like counters, color codes, and a few other things that you don't want to know about. Shhh...

So right, it's been sitting there, and now it's not...because now I'm going to tell you about it. Knuckle Tattoos (yes, I linked again because I don't expect you to go back up and click a link just to figure out what I"m talking about) has numerous pages full of people who have tattoos across their knuckles (creative name, huh? :P). They even have double deckers listed for those with stacked sets of letters or symbols. Some might expect it to be full of ones like this:
But it gets crazier (and I in no way mean that as a bad thing....crazy is good!):
I didn't mention that they each have a short blurb about them, did I? It usually gives the story about what their tats mean. Here's this guys:

These beauties belong to Anima from Boston. The reason he got this design was because he is an audio/mastering engineer.
They get more creative and/or insightful, too:
The reason?

Nerdcore. This is a function for a mathematical singularity. When x=0 this function fails to compute. As x approaches zero from either direction, it approaches either negative or positive infinity. Cameron had this to say about his tattoo:

I got the tattoo because I like the idea of math not being well behaved. That sound’s lame and I really don’t mean that in some kind of A is for Anarchy type way. I just think that its kind of nice that something as perfectly fuctional as math can kink up around the edges.

Deep, huh? And for the gamers out there:And...

I'm gonna link again because this page (notice that I've only made it through page 3) has some description that just has to be read and I'm not going to copy and paste all the different photos and their specific descriptions that go with them. They list a few that are more than just double deckers, and they're interesting. Like this one:
And this one (he has a spider on his palm, too...):Little much for you? Well there are more subtle ones, too....
This lovely young lady here is named Gretchen and this is what she has to say about her knuckle tattoo:

It’s for my cousin J.W. that’s in the Navy. He has an anchor on his arm. I never get to see him now that’s he’s in the Navy.

What a way to support the troops.
How about simple, but full of even more meaning? I wonder how many times he's told this story...
"Its from an old system of hobo symbols. Whenever a hobo would get to a new town they would leave messages for other tramps about the quirks of that perticular town. Like “the cops here will try and kill you” or “the old lady who lives here will give you food” this one means “this is a good place to rest” which is what i needed at the point in my life when i got them. It’s also the meteorological symbol for mist… go figure.
–jamie"

I absolutely love it. And now on to one that didn't take much thought:
When asked why he chose the name of his home town he replied, “Well, it’s got eight letters and I’m always going to be from there.

*Giggles* Is it bad that I first read that as "sha-mokin'?" As in, if something is 'on fire' it's "shaaa-mokin'!" Hehe. It's 3:30am...leave me alone.

From there, you're on your own. I only linked to a handful out of the 9 or so pages worth, so there are a ton more....some are typical ones that you'd expect like "hard core" and "survivor" but there are certainly others. Now I'm left wondering what I would put on mine. Maybe I'd just label them "knuckles" and leave it at that....
