I'm posting mostly over at Quirky Cookery right now, where I play with my food and teach you to have fun with it, too. Come check me out?

And just in case you really like horses (interactive musical horses)

Rewind: More than 3 years ago (because I'm assuming I would've posted it here had I had QJ at the time), I ran across this little horse flash. I sent it to my mother....and my sister....and I'm sure I probably kept it up in a tab for a few days because it made me giggle. It was simple and silly and entertained me for at least a few minutes (probably much longer than that, knowing me and how pathetically entertained I am by the simplest things, hehe).

Fast forward: I just stumbled across it a couple days ago.....and have kept it up in a tab since then, and now I'm blogging about it. Click the link, click the horses (you can click each one again to turn them off...and on....and yeah...), click back here and tell me how much you rolled your eyes at me.

Driftwood Art Horses

I've shown you over and over again that art can be made out of truly anything, and here I am to do it again. This time, it's pieces of driftwood turned into beautiful horses. Heather Jansch has an entire collection of pictures on her website, and a book for purchase, too. Check out the FAQ to find out how she creates her pieces...and for some loving answers about why she sculpts, where she finds her inspiration, etc.

Less than 700 days until the World Beard and Mustache Championships!

Oh my god! You're already working on your beard, right? Right? After all, it's going to take a while if you plan on competing with any of the guys shown on the championship site. With 18 different categories and several years worth of winners, there truly are some amazing 'staches and beards there.

Now this is how to have a fun wedding!

For those of you who aren't familiar with the song, here are the first few verses of lyrics. It turned out quirky and fun....but still sweet and romantic at the same time. What a great way to kick off the wedding celebration!

Forever - Chris Brown

It's you and me
Moving at the speed of light into eternity
Tonight is the night
To join me in the middle of ectasy

Feel the melody and the rhythm of the music
Around you, around you

I'ma take you there, I'ma you there
So don't be scared, I'm right here, ready?
We can go anywhere, go anywhere
But first, it's your chance, take my hand, come with me

Check out this that was posted on the Secret Government Eggo Project. It's the divorce dance, lol.

Purdue "compliment guys" spread random compliments

To a passing guy dressed in Purdue sweats they say, “Love your school spirit.”

To the woman carrying the trendy black bag: “Very nice purse.” “It’s very large.”

And for the student who ran past them in knee-high leather boots: “I like your hustle.” “I like your boots, too.”

Tired of people being so down in the dumps amid the worst economy in decades, sophomores Cameron Brown and Brett Westcott—better known as the “Compliment Guys”—have taken it upon themselves to cheer up the campus.

From 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. every Wednesday, they stand outside the chemistry building in the shadow of the university’s Bell Tower with their “Free Compliments” sign. They’re there in the rain. In the snow. And this week when the windchill made it feel like 10 degrees.
.....
These boys are surely on summer vacation now, and who knows if they'll pick up their compliment fun later in the year, but I love their spirit. The rest of the article is really interesting, so I'd highly recommend you look it over (at least skim it). Many kudos to these boys.

Anything can happen

Still good words for all you adults out there who have given up on your fantasies....

Listen to the MUSTN'Ts, child,
Listen to the DON'Ts
Listen to the SHOULDN'Ts
The IMPOSSIBLEs, the WON'Ts
Listen to the NEVER HAVEs
Then listen close to me--
Anything can happen, child,
ANYTHING can be

How old do I look? The Age Project

The Age Project is a site where people submit their pictures and others guess their age. Pretty simple, right? It's really interesting to see how much older or younger some people look....and also what the average age that 'other' people guess.

I could submit 5 pictures of myself and probably get a different age average for each one. Some confuse me for much older and others assume I'm much younger....much, much younger, as in, a couple months ago, I was asked a question meant for my 4th grade cousin because the woman thought I was the student, heh. In the same day, I would be assumed as that 4th grader's mother, so my looks really throw people off, depending on what I'm wearing or who I'm with, lol.

Forget about snuggies -- Warm the whole couch instead!

Of course, maybe you'll still need a Snuggie because for whatever reason, this is a tank top. But oh boy does the couch look like it's warm!

Post-it Note Animation

I normally try to stick to videos that I can embed directly here, but this one doesn't have the option and it's too good to pass up. You'll particularly enjoy it if you're a big fan of post-it notes, enjoy your computer time, and/or are into stop animation.

100 Best Movie Lines in 200 Seconds

In just over 3 minutes, this video mashes together 100 movie quotes (and clips) back to back. It's quite the flashback for all those movie buffs out there!

Would you eat your buddies?

Eat your buddies

So....would 'you' eat your buddies? The results are a bit skewed.....after all, I would likely be eaten by my buddies first if it relied on me being able to outrun them, but all in all, it's a quick cannibal quiz to make you giggle and gasp.

But really...would you eat them if you had no other choice? ;-)

Best Geek Quotes

For the non-geeks, most of this won't make sense to you at all, so you'll probably want to skip on through to something else. Maybe an older quirk of mine instead?

For the rest of you, enjoy tons and tons of really great geeky quotes, hehe.

Eco-friendly bathroom setup (that won't make you squirm!)

Okay, so I had a few of you squirming with the quirk about turning your fresh urine into fresh drinking water.

Well I'm back with a bit more pee talk, but this one is less disgusting and more practical. Unlike a lot of the "go green" craziness that sends some people to the extreme, this is bathroom setup is classy, economical, and just a great thing to consider if you plan on remodeling your bathroom in the future.

I'd love to see more designs like this created to implement environment-friendly items in everyday life without going to ridiculous lengths that most people won't go.

Like the first urine-to-fresh-water post, I found this concept over at thedesignblog. They describe it like this (find more info and pictures on their site)...
“Eco Bath System” is a new concept that combines the functions of a sink and toilet bowl. Drawing inspiration from the natural flow of water on earth, the Eco Bath System accumulates the water used to wash your hands which further can be reused to clean the toilet.

Rubik's Cube Fun -- Salt & Pepper Mills, Mice, Card Readers, Cakes, Electronics

The set of Rubik's Cube salt and pepper mills will only run you 15 bucks, and hey, it'll be fun to season your food now.

Fat Man and Circuit Girl created a NES mouse and a Rubik's Cube mouse, too. Okay, I might just be posting about this because of their awesome names. Or maybe it's because it involves yet another NES item, hehe.

There are also some items that don't look 'exactly' like Rubik's Cube because their colors aren't the same or the pieces aren't all the same size, but you get the idea:

Rubik's Cube card reader

Rubik's Cube mirror blocks

Oooh, and check out this blast from the past 80s cake with the Rubik's Cube, Super Mario, and Garbage Pail kids...

(From Cake Wrecks....there are some other great vintage cakes in that post, too)

This one is an electronic push-button version instead of the normal twist-around kind. It also has an extra five games you can play on it, so Rubik's Cube definitely got a modern makeover here!

More Geeky Pillows - Cmd + Z, OS X, and laptop

I posted about the Ctrl Alt Del pillows back in May, but since then, I keep stumbling across more.

Apparently Mac users wanted their equivalent, so meet the Cmd + Z pillows:

And here's some OS X ones:

Or how about the laptop to sleep on?
