I'm posting mostly over at Quirky Cookery right now, where I play with my food and teach you to have fun with it, too. Come check me out?

The lava game is the best game ever

No really. Surely you've played the lava game before. Doesn't every kid play some variation of it or another?

I slid a Mario one in there, but guess what I did?  Quirky Mario Yeah, I went there. I was considering buying the url for it, but uh, who would actually do something silly like that?

Facebook Flashback Friday - Coffee, theft, and the real Hello Kitty

Here's another in a series of link dump compilations including all the funny things I've found and shared elsewhere. There are lots more shared on Quirky Jessi's Facebook, but here's a nibble:

  • If you know anything about coffee and don't just randomly order at Starbucks, then this one's for you:
    Customer:
    “Where’s your normal coffee?”
    Me:
    “What?”
    Customer:
“I just want a bag of normal coffee, not flavored.
    Where’s your normal coffee?”
    Me:
“Oh, all of the coffees on the left side of the shelf are unflavored.”
    Customer:
“No, they’re all flavored.  They all say different flavors, like  ’Ethiopia’.”
    Me:
“No, those aren’t flavors. All the ones with a country name are just normal, black coffees like you want. The country name is where the coffee was grown.”
    Customer:
“What! There’s no such country as Ethiopia!”
    Me:
“Well, it’s very far away, in Africa.”
    Customer:
“If you say so. So the ones with country names aren’t flavored?”
    Me:
    “Nope.”
    Customer:
“Fine. I’ll take the stuff from France.”
    Me:
    “Coffee doesn’t grow in France…”
    Customer:
    “Yeah, that French Vanilla.”
  • The laziest cat in the world doesn't even care if this seagull steals all its food. Way to go bird! I love how at the end, he goes back for more, tilts his head up at the cat all confused, and then....yeah....you'll see.

  • This isn't quirky, but very, very good advice about how to give support and comfort during a miscarriage. I think it's a must-read, regardless if you ever think you'll be in a situation to use it.
  • Night light bookmark/bedside table light

  • Because sometimes you just want to "ooo and aww" at baby sloths eating.
  • The real Hello Kitty. This one gets a major shoutout because it's become quite the inside joke as a friend of mine likes to say "Hi kitty, hi, hey, hey kitty...." with every wave, and can go on for a long time doing so, lol.
  • Moving puzzle

The advantages and disadvantages - Is there a difference?

The advantages of doing more of these compiled posts like this:

  • You guys get *way* more content. I have thousands of bookmarks and tabs saved at this point of things I meant to share with you, but just can't get to. :(
  • Almost daily posts. There's still more work involved but some of the nitty gritty stuff is eliminated, so I just have to make sure I show up and write a bit.
  • I get to do more of the fun stuff and less of the really annoying stuff. The biggest time consumer when writing posts is for me to upload and transfer photo links.
  • Posts are more in "real time" than me scheduling a month worth of posts in advance and you guys reading stuff that I saw a couple months ago. If I see something today, you guys see it tomorrow...or within the next few days. No more links to things I saw and that suddenly lit fire across the web....only for you to get them really, really delayed here.
  • I can spend more time on writing what I want and working on other quirky stuff (like Quirky Cookery)
The disadvantages of doing more compiled posts like this:

  • You guys get *way* more content. Isn't it a bit overload? I mean, I see hundreds of things daily and only hold onto a handful in comparison, but for the rest of you, maybe this is a lot.
  • Almost daily posts. Do you really want daily stuff flooding your feeds?
  • I get to do more of the fun stuff. Is that a good thing? Won't I get myself into more trouble? :P
  • Posts are more in "real time" Lolcats are timeless. Does it really matter?
  • I can spend more time on writing what I want. Pfft, I enjoy what I do already. If I can't spread my time out evenly among other interests, that's my own fault, right?
  • Also, there are some other actual disadvantages, and not just the same things as the advantages. I don't have all the photos saved myself elsewhere. Some sites aren't getting the full "feature"/description/attention that they deserve. SEO and such flies out the window. And I sorta feel lazy, even though I know I'm putting in even more effort right now.

One man a cappella of Pokemon theme song

One man, trying to catch 'em all...while singing, dancing, mocking, and showing off manly v-neck shirts, woo!

He's got some other really good ones, too, like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Steampunk knows fashion and dolma machine rocks my leaves

I've only ever had a dolma once actually, and the person I was with said it wasn't great at all, but I enjoyed it. It's something I will surely have more of asap. Even if I hated them, though, I'm drooling over the machine at the bottom. Holy cow, it's so awesome. They're all so neat and perfect, and no major work to produce them. Yeah, I want it. I can't even buy leaves around here....

Never argue with a 90 degree angle

What are you guys thinking about these roundup type posts? Would you rather more of my commentary on them like usual? Do you prefer one site at a time where I feature one silly thing? Would you rather more detailed posts, but less frequently, or are these working for you where I throw larger amounts of quirkiness at you at a time?

Facebook Flashback Friday - Sushi cake, transformer owls, and the history of the world

One more in a series of link dump compilations including all the ridiculous things I've found and shared elsewhere. There are lots more shared on Quirky Jessi's Facebook, but here's some to catch you up:

  • Where did it go? Watch closely to see evidence disappear before your eyes. I bet it's just smarties, right?

  • Sushi birthday cake with full instructions and pictures of other people's versions:
  • When beautiful actors play ordinary/real people
  • Transformer owls. Don't worry, you don't need to understand what they're saying. Just watch the birds and if you want further explanation of when it gets bigger/smaller specifically, then check out the description.

  • Enough Plumbers! This is a Mario-esque type game, but not. It's takes the concept of Mario (jumping around, collecting coins, funny sound effects) and turns it into a new puzzle game where as you collect each coin, you increase the number of plumbers you're playing at once. It can get really crazy, but fun. Try it out. :)
  • Ingenious label design that ensure the food you're getting is fresh. The hourglass stickers use a special ink that changes colors as ammonia is released inside, indicating when the meat gets older. Cool, huh?
  • A brief history of pretty much everything. No really, it's all there. :D

Oh no, Firefox crashed! Maybe Old Spice guy can give him some pointers

I'm sure all of you have seen the Old Spice viral videos by now. They were insane! The remix at the bottom is really funny to top it all off, lol.

ZOMG SPELING ERORZ!! - For all the bloggers out there

If you have a blog, you especially know what I'm talking about. :P

Clicky the link for a full size, easily readable, much better quality version. ;)

Which came first? The barrel monster or the Star Wars My Little Pony?

Oi, so that still ends up being a lot of links. See what happens when I try to be selective? You still get tons of links. This is why I post them one at a time and never seem to run out. In fact, my supply has been overflowing for years now, so hmm....
