Peekaroo - Baby Snuggies meets tradiontal baby carriers, wraps, slings (and other snuggie rip-off products)

What happens when this,

Baby in a front backpack carrier

And this,

Baby in sling/wrap on back

Meets this?

Snuggie, blanket robe

You get the Peekaroo! You know, peek-a-boo...and kangroo baby pouches....haha??

Peekaroo, baby Snuggie carrier

Gah, why am I still posting these? There's the one for your dogs and horses, too, in case you hadn't been so fortunate as to see them:

Snuggys for dogsSnuggies for horses

Ok, so the second one isn't really a Snuggie, but there's a horse site marketing it as such. ;)

And here's one that sends you back to the sewers so you can dress up like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Hot Topic carries the Donatello, Raphael, and Leonardo "Funky Cozies" or knock-off Snuggies. Talk about cult-like...

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Snuggie, Funky Cozy comes in Donatello, Raphael, and Leonardo, TMNT Snuggies

~Edit~ Oh god, I wrote this a couple weeks ago, long before this happened:

Gah, I was joking about the horse snuggies, people!! And especially not a minx snuggie on a celebrity derby horse for the late night Conan O'Brien show. Double gah!!

Snuggies - The Wearable Blanket

So besides it looking like something worn by cult members.....and besides it looking like a beefed up robe that wants to eat you....it's kinda cool. You might've seen them on TV at this point, but I'm still passing them on.

Snuggies. Cute name....or maybe still cult-ish, I still can't quite decide. The snuggle bunnies are coming to get you! Rawr!!

*Cough* Anyway, $15 plus shipping and you can be a part of the cult, too. Christmas gift maybe? Yes, you can just use a blanket or sit uncomfortably in a robe, but this covers you entirely....and looks cult-ish! Remember? All the cool kids are getting them...

~Edit~ I've been told that these are like the "Slanket".....apparently they didn't get the hype that Snuggies seem to be getting but they're basically the same thing.....for 45 bucks + shipping instead. But without the cute, cult-like name.

Oh, and the Snuggie website has a special going on right now! Buy one Snuggie for $19.95 + 7.95 and you'll get a free booklight *and* you get a second one free (+ shipping). Not a bad deal at all.

~Edit~ If you're having a hard time finding the main site, it's GetSnuggie.com.

~Edit 1-30-09~ Check out my latest Snuggies post involving pictures of people wearing the snuggie and a parody video about the "what the bleep blanket," hehe.

What do Snuggies, Slankets, Freedom Blankets and Blankoats all have in common?

According to Gizmodo, it's their knack of for allowing enough space for maneuverability, unlike a regular blanket. When is this most important? While gaming, of course!

You probably thought (or hoped) that I'd never post about these things again, but they're absolutely everywhere! I don't personally own any Snuggies or their counterparts. I still think they're rather cult-like, too, both in appearance and attractiveness to the masses. :P In a few decades, there will be updated lists of the "You're a kid from the 80s if you remember....," and Snuggies will be on there for those from the 2000s. Geesh.

If you're going to own one, though, you might as well make good use of it, and I can't think of a better time to wear one than while gaming. Keeps you warm and snuggly while your hands are left free, instead of tugging a blanket around all the time.

In the market to buy one yourself? Check out this post first. He compares each one, leaving you with his opinions, price checks, and which ones are most comfy.

Snuggie Sightings -- Run for your life!

Back in October, I posted a quick little stab at The Snuggie blanket, comparing it to something that cult members might wear. Little did I know that in a couple days, I'd rank first in Google searches for various snuggie search terms. Within a matter of a week or two, I was getting thousands of hits from people looking for snuggies.

That led me to edit the post a few times with updated info for people looking for the main site, but I never did say anything else about the snuggie itself. Lots of others shared there opinions, though, and turns out, Snuggies were making most of their money on shipping additional slanket-like blanket/robes and were hard to get in touch with, prompting people to find the head company's snail mail address even.

All that aside, though, I still find them hilarious, and I'm not alone on that. Now there's a whole site for Snuggies pictures called "Snuggie Sightings," haha!

Snuggie Sightings

Here's just a few pictures but go over there to see a ton of pictures and even some videos from different Snuggie perspectives. Who knew it'd be so fun?

~Edit~ Oh, and here's a link to an article in USA Today about "pop culture embracing" the snuggie. Oh geez....

~Edit~ Be sure to check out the link left in the comments. The parody video over there is hilarious (although does have a couple curse words, so watch out for PG ears around)

Snuggies are back in bat...er...black!

Snuggies now available in black leather

You didn't think I'd forgotten about Snuggies, did you?

Hope you weren't expecting a "Fourth of July"-related post....

Just when I thought snuggies had completely faded away

Okay, so maybe they haven't faded away completely. I saw another knock-off name of a generic brand wanna-be the way and had to chuckle to myself. Then I saw this and well, given all my other Snuggies posts, I figured I might as well throw this one into the pile for comedic relief during a post flashback exploration later.

And the verdict is, you probably shouldn't buy a Snuggie unless you really, really, really need a warm fuzzy blanket, are too lazy to use a regular blanket, are incapable of buying a robe, 'and' you enjoy looking stupid. What a winning combination!

The original Snuggies - Grandma's ugly knitted sweater

You can see that this guy's grandma obviously loves him very, very much. And he loves his granny, too, considering he actually put it on and posed. :P

I was going to say "On a more serious note," and try to tell you about this collection of very fuzzy clothing, but somehow that just doesn't seem appropriate, hehe. We've seen Snuggies here a few times over the last year, but I do believe these designs probably came long before the commercialized cuddle blankets.

Beware that a few of them touch on some lines of non-PG-13, but it's hard to censor too much considering that they're covered head-to-toe in fuzz!

Blogaversary or Blog Birthday?

Either way, this month marks the birthday/anniversary of the Quirky Jessi site. I didn't do a recap or silly search results post last year....or even announce or celebrate it, tsk, tsk. For 2009, the recap would've likely consisted of all Snuggies things anyway, hehe. I figured I should probably post something about it this year. :P

Things my blog has taught me from this last year:

  • People still need help coming up with creative blog names. My 3 part series still gets a lot of traffic and I should probably put together a fourth given how many silly blog names I'm familiar with.
  • Snuggies are still rocking hard and in more varieties than ever. *Groans*
  • Even though Airborne was recalled in March of 2008, over 2 years ago, people are still searching for the recall information.
  • A comment on my Smooth Away review post asked about pubic hair and apparently thousands of other people have the same question. I still don't know the exact answer, but I can't imagine it'd feel too good even if it works well. Remember, it's kind of sand paper-like, eh.
  • "The 52 reasons I love you" book made it rounds on the internet, but most people didn't know the original source, so a lot landed on my blog and followed the link I posted. This is one of my big reasons for always trying to find the original source of something. I hate not being able to find it.
  • Banana masks are still frequently sought after and people still end up landing on my humorous take on how to do them instead of real recipes, hehe.
  • Fruit protectors are a necessity.
  • Mean letters from Santa are fascinating.
  • There's a huge need for butt boil pictures. Yeah...

Forget about snuggies -- Warm the whole couch instead!

Of course, maybe you'll still need a Snuggie because for whatever reason, this is a tank top. But oh boy does the couch look like it's warm!
